Excessive Sweating

If heavy sweating has no underlying medical cause, it’s called primary hyperhidrosis. This occurs when the nerves responsible for triggering your sweat glands become overactive and call for more perspiration even when it’s not needed. Primary hyperhidrosis can be hereditary. If the sweating is due to a medical condition, it’s called secondary hyperhidrosis. This may be covered by your medical insurance. This can cause embarrassment and make social settings uncomfortable.

About Excessive Sweating Treatment

At Central CosMedic Dr Dani Waxman uses Botulinum Toxin to prevent sweating as it works by preventing the release of a chemical that signals the sweat glands to activate. Most common areas to treat are under the arms, palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

Depending on the dose used, and how you respond, repeat treatments will be required around every 6 to 12 months.

Its effect starts from between 3 to 12 days after injection. The peak action is at 7 to 10 days after injection resulting in a decrease in the amount of sweat produced .Effects gradually wear off over a 6 to 12 month period at which time Injections can be repeated if desired.
